You may remember the first story we did on Josh’s Camaro a couple of months ago. Well, we have received an update on the car and we were so impressed with the progress we thought we might just reprint the entire contents of Josh’s email here.
I just wanted to take this opportunity to sincerely thank you for everything you and your company has contributed to my project. I’m proud to report that I have reached my life-long goal of reaching 200 MPH in a standing mile, and I could not have done it without your support!
The car made a pass of 202.5mph in a standing mile, at the Mojave Mile. That makes me the youngest member of the Mojave 200mph Club. I took first place in my class, and simultaneously beat one of the worlds fastest and most expensive cars, the Bugatti Veyron, which did a best of 201.7mph. The car dyno’d at 1020 rear-wheel horsepower and 958 rear-wheel torque, on 91 octane pump gas! (And still gets 20 mpg highway).
It’s been a long road and a great learning experience building it myself, so far the car has been featured on LSXtv.com, and will have a short article in the August print issue of Car & Driver Magazine.
