With a record crowd of 29,117 people watching, the reigning champions Rod Salmon and Damien White, driving a Team Mitsubishi Ralliart Australia EVO X emerged as winners of one of the toughest endurance races in Australia – the Bathurst 12-hour.
The second place went to the West Surfing Products team with Tony Ricciardello, Stuart Kostura and Glyn Crimp.
Turbosmart-sponsored Pro-Duct Motorsport EVO X driven by Brad Jones and Jason Bargwanna secured a third spot after completing no less than 19 pit stop due to a fuel issue.
“We just continued to circulate all day, stayed out of trouble, had 19 pit stops due to a fuel pick up problem, so all in all it is very busy race but it was pleasing to get up here on the podium at Bathurst,” recalls Bargwanna.
“Bob Pearson put in a huge effort to get this team together for the weekend. This is my first 12 Hour race since 1994 and I thoroughly enjoyed myself.”
The great result for Team Pro-Duct was overshadow by the unfortunate accident by the team owner and manager – Bob Pearson who had crashed his EVO X at Forests Elbow and had to be taken to hospital with serious injuries.
We wish Bob a speedy recovery and look forward to seeing him behind a wheel of a race car again!
